The City of Sunnyside Sewer Division is responsible for operating and maintaining the City sewer collection systems, lift stations, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City operates a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that processes 1.2 million gallons per day of domestic sewage.
Lift Stations
The city maintains (15) lift stations that collect and pump domestic waste to the WWTP.
Wastewater Collection
The City maintains 55 miles of gravity sewer main that flows to lift stations or the WWTP for Processing. Any interruption of this service could result in a public health hazard and increased costs associated with regulatory fines and claims for damages.
Maintenance goals are generally based on cost effectively keeping the system operational. Cost-effective maintenance programs are those that stress preventative maintenance and initiate action before problems occur.
Screw Press
The WWTP uses a screw press to dewater the biosolids, which saves the taxpayers in Sunnyside approximately $80,000 per year.
