CITY OF SUNNYSIDE NOTICE TO CONSULTANTS FOR
 ENGINEERING/DESIGN PROJECTS

 

 

The City of Sunnyside solicits interest from consulting firms with expertise in Civil and Structural Engineering Design. This agreement will be for approximately twelve months on a Cost Plus Fixed Fee basis, with the option for the City of Sunnyside to extend it for additional time and money if necessary.  Consultants will be considered for the following projects:

  1. Pedestrian Safety Improvements – funded by HSIP
  2. 1st Street and Yakima Valley Highway Intersection Improvements – funded by STBG
  3. Interstate 82/Hwy 241 Eastbound Roundabout– funded by FMSIB

The City of Sunnyside reserves the right to amend the terms of this “Request for Qualifications” (RFQ) by circulating addenda, or to withdraw the RFQ at any time, regardless of the time and effort consultants have spent on their responses.

Project Description

The work to be performed by the Consultant consists of preparing Plans, Specifications, and Estimate for improvements to the following projects:

  • Pedestrian Safety Improvements – funded by HSIP
  • Install curb extensions, illumination, signing, pavement markings, and curb ramps.
  • DBE and FSBE goal:  0%
  • 1st Street and Yakima Valley Highway Intersection Improvements – funded by STBG
  • Reconstruct intersection to include travel lane re-alignment, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and storm drainage improvements.
  • DBE and FSBE goal:  0%
  • Interstate 82/Hwy 241 Eastbound Roundabout– funded by FMSIB
    1. Construct new roundabout including excavation, crushed surfacing, hot mix asphalt, pavement markings, signing, and street lighting
    2. DBE and FSBE goal:  0%

Note: All projects have a voluntary SBE goal of 10% as stated in the Consultant Agreement.

 

The proposed improvements include evaluating the existing intersections and designing all upgrades. The significant features of the project are as follows:

 

•       Evaluation and inspection of the existing intersection conditions,

•       Recommendations for any required improvements to the intersections,

•       Design of intersection improvements to be retrofitted to existing intersections,

•       Coordination with utility provider,

•       Environmental documentation and preparation of permit applications,

•       Provide the City of Sunnyside with a complete PS&E Package for Submission to Local Programs

 

The City of Sunnyside reserves the right to retain the services of the successful firm(s) for any subsequent phases (R/W, CN) associated with this/project.

Evaluation Criteria

Submittals will be evaluated and ranked based on the following criteria:

1) Qualification of Proposed Project Manager

2) Qualifications/Expertise of Firm 

3) Ability to meet the schedule

4) Approach to the project

5) Familiarity with WSDOT/FHWA standards

6) Past Performance/References

7) Approach to meet the FSBE goal (FSBE Participation Plan)

Submittal

Submittals should include the following information and be limited to 30 pages excluding a cover letter, and front and back pages: Firm name, phone and fax numbers; Name of Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager; and Number of employees in each firm proposed for the project.
