Subject:        City of Sunnyside Announces Meeting of the “Sunnyside Business Advisory Council”

The City of Sunnyside is pleased to announce the first meeting of the Sunnyside Business Advisory Council, set to take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 12 PM. The meeting will be held in the Sunnyside Fire Department Training Room, located at 513 S. 8th Street, Sunnyside, WA 98944. Lunch will be provided courtesy of our partners at Yakima Valley Conference of Governments (YVCOG).

The Sunnyside Business Advisory Council will be established to provide a platform for the Sunnyside Business Community to voice their concerns and ideas. This Council is distinct from a Chamber of Commerce and does not include City Council appointees forming the board. It is a grassroots initiative aimed at attracting business owners, community members, and individuals committed to the betterment of Sunnyside. Each meeting will have a structured agenda and will offer attendees the opportunity to discuss topics impacting the business community.

The meeting will be attended by key City officials, including City Council members, City Manager Mike Gonzalez, Police Chief Rob Layman, Fire Chief Cameron Haubrich, Public Works Director Raul Sanchez, Community & Economic Development Director Derrick Braaten, and Code Enforcement Officers.

Participants are invited to submit topics for discussion in advance to mgonzalez@sunnyside-wa.gov or by text or call at (509) 850-4748 for further inquiries. No RSVP is required; attendees are encouraged to simply show up and participate in the discussion.

We look forward to a productive meeting and to working together to enhance the business environment in Sunnyside.
