City Manager Recruitment Process
It is important to note that the City Manager recruitment process may involve additional steps or modifications, as decided by the City Council. The primary goal is to find the best individual to lead our community and ensure its continued success and well-being.
DONE - 1. Hiring a Recruitment Firm: The first step in the City Manager recruitment process involves hiring a recruitment firm that specializes in finding qualified candidates for municipal leadership positions. This specialized firm will have access to a wide network of potential candidates and can help streamline the recruitment process by identifying the most suitable individuals.
DONE - 2. Posting an Announcement: After hiring a recruitment firm, the next step is to make an announcement to the public regarding the City Manager recruitment process. This announcement will provide details about the position, the qualifications required, and the deadline for applications. Additionally, the announcement may include instructions on how to apply for the position.
DONE - 3. Narrowing the Field to Qualified Candidates: The recruitment firm will carefully review all received applications and screen potential candidates based on their qualifications and experience. This initial stage helps to narrow down the field to a smaller pool of candidates who are deemed most qualified.
DONE - 4. Determination of Finalists: After the field has been narrowed, the City Council will have the responsibility to evaluate whether the candidates would be an asset to Sunnyside. Council members may conduct interviews or assess each candidate's qualifications and fit within the community. Based on the Council's assessment, a shortlist of finalists will be identified.
DONE - 5. Meeting with Community and Staff: The finalists will be invited to meet with both the community and staff members of Sunnyside. These meetings will provide an opportunity for the community and staff members to express their concerns, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of the finalists' leadership styles and visions for our community. | Community Meet-and-Greet scheduled on July 15, 2024 from 5 PM to 7 PM - FLYER
DONE - 6. City Council Decision: After conducting community and staff meetings, the City Council will deliberate on the finalists and make a final decision. The Council will consider each candidate's qualifications, experience, fit within the community, and ability to deliver on the goals and priorities of Sunnyside. The final decision will be based on the majority vote of the Council.
UPDATE - City Council approved an employment contract with Mike Gonzalez on July 29, 2024.
