Stay Safe and Celebrate Responsibly this New Year’s Eve!
As we prepare to welcome the New Year, let’s remember that shooting guns into the air is not only dangerous—it’s a crime. According to RCW 9.41.230, it is illegal to aim or discharge firearms in a manner that endangers others.
What goes up must come down, and stray bullets can cause serious injury or even death. Protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community by leaving firearms out of your celebrations.
If
you see or hear dangerous behavior, report it to local authorities immediately. Let’s work together to make this New Year’s Eve safe and joyful for everyone.
Another reminder that pursuant to Sunnyside Municipal Code 5.42.022 the sale and discharge of fireworks are prohibited on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Let's celebrate safely and responsibly!
Happy New Year, Sunnyside!
