Happy Thanksgiving! 

City offices are closed November 28-29, 2024. Garbage pick up routes will be delayed by one day following the holiday. Friday routes will be serviced on Saturday November 30th.

We will return to our normal office hours on Monday, December 2, 2024. If you have any questions please contact the Utility Billing Office at (509) 837-3782 or visit https://www.yakimawaste.com/ for more information.

Don't let FOGs ruin your holiday cheer! Follow these tips for proper fat, oils, and grease (FOGs) disposal:
FOGs should never be poured down sinks or drains. They will solidify, create a build up, and block sewer pipes.
Scrape excess food and grease off your plate and into your compost bin.
Use COOL water to rinse dishes prior to loading the dishwasher. Hot Water breaks down grease temporarily and later solidifies in your pipes.
Small amounts of grease can be poured into a tin can, freeze it, and then toss it in the trash on the day of your trash service.
