Fire Prevention

Education Opportunities

Child on a fire station tour
The Sunnyside Fire Department provides fire prevention education in the form of station tours, fire extinguisher classes, and public interaction at special functions.

Public CPR and First Aid Classes

Approximately once per month the SFD provides public CPR training. The cost is $45 and includes CPR and first aid certification through the American Heart Association.  Contact the business office for answers to questions or to sign up for the next class.

Station Tours

If you are interested in scheduling a station tour you may contact the Fire Department at (509) 837-3999. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The station tours usually run approximately 45 minutes depending on the size of the group. We like the group size to be around 30 children or less but we may accommodate larger groups on an as-needed basis.

The tour consists of a cool video on fire prevention and a tour of E-11. Each child is given a stick-on badge, a plastic fire helmet, and a book to color and learn more about fire safety. All fire prevention materials are subject to availability.

Fire Extinguishers

The Sunnyside Fire Department provides fire extinguisher training to businesses and groups upon request. The company will need to coordinate with a fire extinguishing company to provide the extinguishers needed for the live fire training. The live fire training is optional. The basic how-to steps of the fire extinguisher can be provided without it.

To schedule a fire extinguisher training class, contact our business office at (509) 837-3999.
